Why the status column exists
The best known Hawaii zipline tours that are no longer running
Most round-ups of Hawaii zipline tours still list Flyin' Hawaiian and Piiholo Ranch as if you could book them tomorrow. Flyin' Hawaiian in Wailuku, which held the longest single line in the state at 3,600 ft, has been closed since 2024 after damage to the access road serving the course, and no reopening date has been announced. The Upcountry course at Piiholo Ranch is also no longer operating.
That matters more than it sounds, because Hawaii zipline courses change status far more often than they change specification. A visitor planning a Maui trip around the longest line in Hawaii will find nothing at the end of the drive. So this directory carries a status field, it is checked against the operator rather than against other guides, and a closed course stays in the table instead of quietly disappearing, because the specifications are still part of the island's record.
Compared with other listings, the difference is only this field. Where a course has partially reopened, the status reads limited and the note explains what is running. Koloa Zipline on Kauai is the recent example: the full eight-line course, including the 2,500 ft Waita line, came back in early 2026 after a period on a shortened route.
Reading the fields
What each column actually measures
- Lines
- The number of separate cables you ride. It is not a measure of how long the day is: a nine-line course can be shorter end to end than a six-line one with longer spans.
- Longest line
- The single longest cable on the course. This is the figure that decides whether the day has a genuine set-piece ride in it.
- Max height
- Greatest height above the ground below, not altitude above sea level. Several operators do not publish it.
- Min age
- The operator's stated minimum. Always the softer of the two limits in practice.
- Rider weight
- The rider's own weight, clothed, without gear. The lower bound is a physics limit, not a policy: too light and you stop short of the far platform.
- Status
- Open, limited or closed, checked against the operator. This is the field other guides leave out.

Maui has the most courses and the most varied terrain, from Upcountry forest to the dry West Maui ridges. Kauai and the island of Hawaii each have a single strong course with a distinctive setting: Koloa runs long lines on the south shore, Umauma crosses a river gorge and its waterfalls.
